Hands Across Communications, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Founded in 1993, HAC emerged in response to the need for new and innovative programs that were lacking in arts education programs for deaf and hard of hearing people. People who can hear have complete access to the many information systems available around us. Their social and educational growth is directly promoted through environmental auditiory stimulation in conversation, radio, television, music and sounds emanating from today’s world. Deaf people often are not “in the know” simply because information systems are not inclusive or accessible. Deaf children and adults should have exposure to more stimulating opportunities. One way to equalize this need is by participating in all aspects of the arts.
To create and provide high quality sign language entertainment programming for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing audiences. To provide talent and employment opportunities for hearing signers and deaf professionals to interact and collaborate. Through television, film, theatre, music and international festivals, bring the deaf culture world visibly into the international media.
